Cole Bourgeois was raised in a rural town outside of Houston, Texas. She later received her BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Tufts University, with a concentration in painting and art history.

Bourgeois’ painting is representational, albeit informed by conceptual notions of sensuality, corporeality and space. Motifs that explore the resonance and sensuousness of flesh, such as the human body and fruit, are rendered suspended adjacent to a deep blackness representing the endless possibilities of space and presence. Her fascination with the energy that is created between the foreground and background touching, has driven her compulsion to investigate further the balance and role that each force plays in creating experiences of intimacy and sensuality.

Cole resides and practices in Brooklyn, NY
